Cosmetic Tattooing

This procedure implants pigment into the skin resulting in semi-permanent make-up. It is designed to enhance and complement your natural features. It gradually fades over 3 to 5 years.

Feather Brow Micro Tattoo is also available. This is a superficial tattoo that gives the appearance of fine hair strokes. It fades over 12 to 18 months.

The process of getting tattooed does temporarily change your state of mind, your blood-chemistry and tax the immune system during the healing process. Here are some tips that can help you have the most pleasant experience possible:

  • Arrive to your appointment well rested.
  • Plan your day around your tattoo appointment not the other way around.
  • Give yourself PLENTY of time BEFORE and AFTER your session to avoid being stressed out or frazzled.
  • Eat a moderate meal a few hours before your appointment to avoid a sugar crash.
  • Avoid over-doing stimulants, such as caffeine. You need to be able to sit calmly for several hours, so the use of caffeine and energy drinks should be minimised on the day of your appointment.
  • Try to maintain a positive and relaxed state of mind.
  • The healthier you are, the easier it will be for your body to heal the tattoo, so try to take extra care of yourself for a few days before and a few days after your appointment. Avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and fast/processed foods.
  • If you are sick, feel you are getting sick, not quite over being sick, reschedule your appointment and give your body time to recover before getting your tattoo
  • Apply Aftercare Balm every 3 hours for 3 days
  • Apply AM and PM for up to 2 weeks
  • Cold packs may be used to alleviate discomfort and reduce swelling
  • Take an analgesic not aspirin
  • Apply Aftercare Balm to keep area moist until healed in 6 to 8 days. Wash hands before applying and apply with cotton tips
  • Do not pick, rub, scratch or disturb the treated site
  • Do not allow water to come into contact with the treated area. Apply Aftercare Balm prior to shower to keep the area waterproof for one week
  • At night cover the area liberally with Aftercare Balm before going to bed and use dark coloured bedding
  • Necessary to maintain scrupulous hygiene. Normal activities like gardening, cuddling pets, handling money and then wiping or itching the treatment site as it heals are all potential infectious activities
  • No makeup for the first 5 days
  • No sun, soap, sauna, chlorinated pools or salt water for 2 weeks
  • If the area becomes itchy, this is normal. Don’t scratch
  • No hydroxy acid products or Retinol/vitamin A for 1 month. These products will make the tattoo fade faster
  • Apply Aftercare Balm 4 times a day for 2 weeks
  • Clear fluid may appear for 24 hours. This is normal. Wipe firmly otherwise crusting or scabbing will appear, and then apply healing cream
  • Swelling will last around 24 hours
  • No waxing, plucking or tinting for 2 weeks
  • Lips will feel chapped and dry. Apply Aftercare Balm as often as required for 3 days and then 4 times a day for up to 2 weeks with cotton tips only
  • Apply a medicated cream such as soov or medi crème
  • Do not bleach teeth for 4 weeks
  • No lip fillers for 1 month
  • If you have had lip fillers the end colour  result will not take as well.
  • If you suffer from cold sores apply Famvir  or Zovirax before applying healing cream as a preventative
  • Do not lick lips or wipe with a napkin
  • No kissing for at least 3 days
  • Moist lipstick can be worn after 4 days
  • Full lip colour can take up to 4 weeks to settle
  • Take Nurofen morning and night to reduce swelling when having a full lip procedure
  • For full lips further visits must be booked no longer than 8 weeks apart for each visit
  • Flush eyes with eye drops during the first few days
  • Clean around eye area with cotton balls dampened with water
  • Cosmetics should not be applied until the area has healed as they can cause bacterial contamination, for 7 days
  • When you resume wearing mascara use a new tube
  • No lash tinting, lifting or lash extensions for 2 weeks after procedure
  • Apply Aftercare Balm with a cotton tip for 3 days 3 times a day
